Hi Kidz, and welcome to your Internet
Safety page!
Unfortunately these days, there are some bad people out there
that we have to always be on the lookout for. Especially when you're
on-line.
But you can play it safe and cool by always following these 9
EASY steps! So read on and become part of our Online Safety
Patrol!
1. Whenever you're in a chat room, or on a bulletin board,
or even just talking to an online pen-pal, never give out
your last name or family name, and never give out your
home address or phone number! Remember, this person may not be
who they say they are!
2. Don't tell other kids your screen name, user ID or
password. Those are a secret!
3. When you visit a Web site, take a look at its Privacy
Policy. Learn how it uses the information you give it.
4. Always try to surf the Internet with your parents.
If they aren't available, talk to them about the sites you're
visiting. They may have heard something you haven't yet.
5. Remember when I said to check out a Web site's Privacy
Policy? Well, talk about that with your parents too. That way,
each of you can know what information the site collects about
you and what it plans to do with it.
6. Web sites MUST get your parent's permission
before they collect many kinds of information from you. That's
the law. And you can help police them by making sure they follow
it.
7. If a Web site has information about you that you and
your parents don't want it to have, your parents can ask to see
the information—and have it deleted or erased if they want.
8. When you participate in activities on a site, they
are not suppose to collect more information than they need about
you. Most times, you should be able to participate in activities
on-line without even having to give any information about yourself.
9. And always remember—If a site ever makes you
feel uncomfortable or asks for more information than you want
to give, just leave. Your safety is way more important!
So there you have it kidz. 9 EASY steps to follow! Make
sure you start them today—and always remember to follow
them. After all, we want to keep all our Kidz Club members Safe
and Cool!
Now go ahead and have some fun!
